Das C.Rockefeller Center bietet seit diesem Jahr in Zusammenarbeit mit DS-X.org | Depart und dem WRO Art Center in Wrocław eine mehrwöchige Residenz für Künstler mit Fokus auf Kunst im öffentlichen Raum an. Die ersten Stipendiaten dieser Zusammenarbeit sind Ronny Szillo aus Leipzig, der vom C.Rockefeller Center nach Wrocław entsandt wurde und Ewa Rebeka Służyńska, die im Oktober und November in Dresden arbeiten und ihre Arbeiten vorstellen wird.
E-R-S wants to turn the C. Rockefeller Center for Contemporary Arts in Dresden into a space that corresponds to the road through heaven, hell and purgatory. She is particularly interested in hybrid forms of expression, combining drawing, painting and embroidery elements with installation. The starting point of her activities will be the collection of medieval and early Renaissance works of art located in the Zwinger palace, and its use of symbols mixed with the contemporary pop babble.
Ewa Rebeka Służyńska, a.k.a. E-R-S (b. 1990), graduated with honors in Art Education from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Arts and Design in Wrocław; currently a student of Art Mediation. She is a graphic artist and illustrator, author of collages, fanzines, murals; organizer of workshops, exhibitions and sometimes even (once) a curator. Służyńska’s artwork stems from her personal experiences and observations that she translates into often naive and childish – but her own – style. She considers art as a cynical, dark-humoured, intelligent narration of the world surrounding us. She is a huge fan of hip-hop / rap culture, deeply inspired by the medieval art and honesty. She does what she wants, using the children’s nasty lines that emphasize the half-playful nature of her work.

Frau Ewa Rebeka Służyńska nimmt 2016 als eine von fünf Teilnehmern am sogenannten A-i-R Wro Programm der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Wrocław 2016 teil, welche vom Ministerium für Kultur und nationales Erbe der Republik Polen, dem Goethe-Institut Krakau, dem Österreichischen Kulturforum Warschau und DS-X.org | depart finanziert wird. Ihre Künstlerresidenz in Dresden wird vom Deutschlandandfriends e.V. und ihrem C. Rockerfeller – Center for the Contemporary Arts durchgeführt.
Gegenstand der Residency
Die Residency wird vergeben an einen multimedial arbeitenden Künstler mit Werkschwerpunkt Intervention im öffentlichen Raum. Während des Aufenthaltes in Dresden bzw. Wrocław sollten ortsspezifische und situationsändernde künstlerische Eingriffe und Konzepte entwickelt und realisiert werden. Es werden medial keine Ausschlusskriterien festgelegt, es sind also Projekte aus allen künstlerischen Sparten wie Performance, Tanz, Installation, Malerei, Photographie, Multimedia etc. möglich.
The Residency will be awarded to an artist, working multi-medially with main focus on interventions in public space. During his or her time of stay in Dresden or Wrocław site specific or situationistic artistic interventions and concepts should be developed and shall be implemented. Considering medial means, exclusion criteria wont be determined – projects from all art disciplines like performance, dance, installation, painting, photography, multi-media etc. are possible.
