Ambisonic Tea Room is a temporary listening environment created by Polina Khatsenka and Andreas Ullrich, combining a multichannel spatial sound system with a simple tea-drinking area. The room invites visitors to slow down, inhabit sound collectively and experience listening as a spatial and bodily practice.
Throughout the residency, the space will host Ambisonic compositions and live sets alongside informal tea sessions, creating a setting for focused listening, grounding, conversation and shared presence. The setup is based on the modular OTTOsonics loudspeaker system, an accessible platform for working with Ambisonics and spatial audio outside of highly specialized institutional environments.
The project forms part of Polina Khatsenka’s PhD research into aural perception, sonic architecture and the role of spatial sound in shaping attention and our relationship to space, and continues the long-term spatial sound practice developed within the phonon~ crew.
The space is set up as a 15.1-channel Ambisonic listening environment using the DIY OTTOsonics system, alongside a tea-drinking area.
Throughout the week, the room will host listening sessions, live mixing and two introductory workshops on Ambisonics.
You are welcome to visit – either simply to experience the system and spend some time listening, to join one of the workshops, or to bring your own sound material and try it out on the multichannel setup. You will find the full schedule in the attachment.

The project is developed by phonon~ as part of my PhD research into aural perception, spatial sound and sonic architecture, in collaboration with Andreas Ullrich, C.ROCKEFELLER and OTTOsonics. We would be very happy to welcome students and anyone interested in spatial audio, sound art or experimental approaches to listening.
