dresdencontemporaryart (DCA) präsentiert „Thread to Triumph“, ein Ausstellungs- und Performance-Projekt der nigerianischen Künstlerinnen Taiwo Aiyedogbon und Onesa Oruoghor.
Das Projekt vereint Textilinstallationen, Video, Ton und Performance und untersucht weibliche Verkörperung, indigenes Wissen und kulturelles Gedächtnis anhand zweier historischer und kultureller Bezugspunkte aus Nigeria: Aiyedogbons Auseinandersetzung mit Arugba Osun innerhalb der Yoruba-Kosmologie und Oruoghors Reflexion über den Aufstand der Frauen von Aba, ein bedeutendes Beispiel für weiblichen Widerstand im Rahmen antikolonialer Bewegungen im Igbo-Kontext.
Im Mittelpunkt des Projekts steht der Faden als Metapher für Verbindung, Weitergabe und Transformation. Fäden verbinden Körper, Geschichten, Generationen und Gemeinschaften – und verknüpfen textile Praktiken mit mündlich überliefertem Gedächtnis, Fürsorge, Widerstand und kultureller Kontinuität.
Während des HECHT#TAG 2026 werden die Künstler*innen eine Performance und einen partizipativen Umzug im öffentlichen Raum gestalten.
„Thread to Triumph“ ist zugleich ein transkontinentaler künstlerischer Austausch zwischen selbstorganisierten Strukturen: 1-98 Art Studio in Lagos, C. Rockefeller und DCA in Dresden.
Ein Ort der Begegnung, des Gedenkens und des kollektiven Handelns – vom Faden zum Triumph.

dresdencontemporaryart (DCA) presents Thread to Triumph, an exhibition and performance project by Nigerian artists Taiwo Aiyedogbon and Onesa Oruoghor.
Bringing together textile installation, video, sound and performance, the project explores female embodiment, indigenous knowledge and cultural memory through two historical and cultural reference points from Nigeria: Aiyedogbon’s engagement with Arugba Osun within Yoruba cosmology, and Oruoghor’s reflection on the Aba Women’s Riot, a significant history of female resistance within anti-colonial movements in Igbo contexts.
At the heart of the project is the thread as a metaphor for connection, transmission and transformation. Threads connect bodies, stories, generations and communities — linking textile practices with oral memory, care, resistance and cultural continuity.
During HECHT#TAG 2026, the artists will create a performance and participatory procession in public space.
Thread to Triumph is also a transcontinental artistic exchange between self-organised structures: 1-98 Art Studio in Lagos, C.Rockefeller and DCA in Dresden.
